When a new update is available for the Driver App, MTI staff can enable the update to be deployed as an Over-the-Air (OTA) update. This is done on a fleet wide basis. An install tile is then displayed within the app, allowing the driver to install the application without having to manually download it. This article describes how to update the Driver App via this method.
A PDF version is attached for portable viewing.
When the Driver App update has been downloaded to the vehicle, and is ready to install, an install tile with orange text appears in-app, next to the Navigate tile. Before tapping the button, take note of the current version number in the top right corner of the app, and the new version on the install tile.
Tap the install tile to start the installation process.
NOTE: A dialog box may appear to inform you that a new version of the app has been downloaded, prompting you to install it after acknowledgment. In this case, you do not need to manually tap the install button, unless you cancel the install.
Tap the “Update” button, when prompted, to install the update.
Once the update has installed, tap the “Open” button to re-open the app.
Check that the version number of the app in the top right corner matches the one from the install tile. If not, you will need to restart the installation process.
If new OS permissions are required for the update, a screen will you inform which permissions, and prompt you to grant them for the Driver App. Tap the green “Request Permissions” button.
Tap on the highlighted permission and/or tap “Allow”, when prompted. If the Driver App does not re-open, tap the device’s back button. Repeat the process for all permissions.
Once all permissions have been granted, tap the “Continue” button. The Driver App should automatically log back into the same driver account. If it doesn’t, it will return to the login screen.
